A shower of falling cherry blossom petals. It is called "Sakura Fubuki" in Japanese. Sakura means cherry blossom. Fubuki means a blizzard.
Typhoon #20, probably the last typhoon this season, brought the shiny surf day. It was a bit stormy weather on Saturday, but the storm wind blow all the cloud away and the perfect sky was upon the typhoon swell on Sunday.
The waves were about shoulder to head size. They were quite fast, hollow shore breaks. You have to be very quick to stand up on the board after taking off, otherwise the the rip would suck you up to the top of the wave and then smash you to the sandy bottom from your head.
I used a tripod and took photos with slow shutter ( 1/20 to 1/50 sec) to capture the movement.
Typhoon 9 was so strong when it hit the coast line. It swept the half of the R134 coast highway. It's the first experience living in this are for 12 years. Photos below are from the other blog called " Shounan Bangaichi ". The guardrail where people working is actually the Center Line of the highway. The Huge waves swept half ocean side of the road.
Typhoon #9 hit the Tokyo at 9/6. The massive waves exploded on the beach just in front of my house. More photos.
Typhoon #4 brought the biggest wave of this year. The largest day was mostly closed out condition, but still fun to see the massive power of the waves. The next day was the day for all the surfers waiting for grand swell.
Typhoon number 4 hit Japanese coast on 7/14. Thogh most of the beach breaks were closed out, some reef breaks were good to surf. I enjoyed morning riding that was fun !
